FRINGE FESTIVAL REVIEW -- "A MAN, A MAGIC, A MUSIC"
Imagine Sam Cooke, Chuck Berry, Chubby Checker, Jackie Wilson, Wilson Pickett, Ray Charles, James Brown, Roy Hamilton, Otis Redding, The Platters, The Temptations...all in the same show. Imagine Movin’ Melvin Brown, a one man entertainment machine. “A Man, A Magic, A Music” is his internationally acclaimed production, that made its NY Premiere at the NY International Fringe. Brown is a comic, as he tells the story of his life. He is a singer and dancer as he brings back the memories of the last 60 years of music. He is an entertainer who can still do the moves of his days as a male dancer... a music box dancer...a soldier...a preacher...a husband...so many roles... Most of all, Brown is an inspiration to the spirit of music and humor which never fail as a pick-up up the spirit as he gets everyone clapping and tapping. Somehow he erases that heartbreak that went when we first heard songs like “The Great Pretender” in the midst of teenager angst. He brings back the thrill out of “You Send Me.” From gyrating twist to the pulsating “Unchained Melody,” Brown brings forth one treasure after another from the bygone golden days. Bottom line: Great songs, great show, great time for all. More Information at www.movinmelvin.com--CELIA SHARPE
