DUE TO BROADWAY THEATRE AVAILABILITY
The new production of Lerner and Loewe’s BRIGADOON, directed and choreographed by Rob Ashford and scheduled to play in Boston this fall, prior to a Broadway opening, has been postponed. The delay is due to the lack of an appropriate Broadway theatre in Spring, 2009.
BRIGADOON is produced by Ostar Productions and Liza Lerner.
A revised schedule for the production will be announced at a later date.
The pre-Broadway engagement, announced for Boston for October 21 through November 16 at the Colonial Theatre, has now been cancelled.

("Stage Space" notes: If this highly anticipated revival comes to pass , it will be the first major New York production of "Brigadoon" in many years. The show (which originally openned March 13, 1947) was the biggest hit of the 1946-47 season, and established Lerner & Loewe as major Broadway songwriters. The score includes such appealing songs as "Almost Like Being in Love," "Come to Me, Bend to Me," and "The Heather on the Hill." This light, airy musical fantasy is long overdue for a major revival. In March of 1986, "Brigadoon:" was given a revival by theNew York City Opera. And in December of 1968, the show was revived briefly at City Center. The proposed new revival, we hear, would be a very much dance-oriented show. The announcement that the Boston tryout is being canceled is sad news for theater buffs. And many will wonder: Is the proposed Broadway revival being postoned? Or does this mean it may never happen? Time will tell.)
